Type specimen: USNM 116936a, a valve (pedicle valve). Its type locality is Raccoon Valley, 3/4 mile northeast of Fleanor Mill, Powell Station, which is in a Blackriveran carbonate limestone in the Wardell Formation of Tennessee.
