Type specimen: USNM 540765, a skull (virtually complete adult skull, including the periotic, malleus, incus, and stapes from the left side). Its type locality is Quebrada Collazo, which is in a Chattian marine limestone in the Lares Limestone Formation of Puerto Rico.
Ecology: aquatic herbivore
Distribution: found only at Quebrada Collazo
