Sister taxon: Notogaulus minor

Type specimen: F:AM 65888, a skull (nearly complete skull (lacking only the left zygomatic arch and anterior por- tion of the nasals) with complete dentition). Its type locality is East Cuyamungue, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Tesuque Formation of New Mexico.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (3: New Mexico collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
