Type specimen: MLP 88-V-30-1, a partial skull (parte anterior de cráneo y cuerpo mandibular, ambos con la dentadura completa pero los P4 dañados.). Its type locality is South bank of Rio Negro - 10km SW of Paso Córdoba, which is in a Colhuehuapian terrestrial horizon in the Chichinales Formation of Argentina.
