Sister taxon: Soriamys gaimanensis

Type specimen: MACN CH 1765, a skull (complete skull with articulated jaw). Its type locality is Sacanana, which is in a Colhuehuapian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Sacanana
