Sister taxa: Trivellona avellanoides, Trivellona felixlorenzi, Trivellona ijzermani, Trivellona makranica

Type specimen: USNM 562667, a shell. Its type locality is USGS 17448 - Okinawa, which is in a Miocene deep-water claystone/sandstone in the Shimajiri Formation of Japan.
