Type specimens:

  • Aloposaurus tenuis: BP/1/256, a skull (Flattened and crushed skull with lower jaw). Its type locality is Saint Olives, which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
  • Cynarioides tenuis: MMK 2046, a skull (Crushed skull with lower jaw). Its type locality is Biesjiespoort, Victoria West, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
