Type specimen: MCNC-PV 298, a maxilla ("a fragment of right maxillary with zygomatic plate, the M1–3 and the associated portion of the bony palate"). Its type locality is Los Sauces River, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial horizon in the Brochero Formation of Argentina.
