Sister taxa: Bathmodon semicinctus, Bathmodon brevipes, Bathmodon latipes, Loxolophodon speirianum
Type specimen: IVPP V 5149, a mandible. Its type locality is Zhicheng area, Yichang, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Yangxi Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Zhicheng area, Yichang
