Type specimen: USNM 402895, a set of limb elements (associated distal half of tibiotarsus and complete tarsometatarsus). Its type locality is Te Rua Rere Cave, Tava'enga District, Mangaia, which is in a Holocene cave horizon in Cook Islands.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
