Type specimens:

  • Merycodus sabulonis: AMNH 14102, a mandible
  • Cosoryx (Subparacosoryx) savaronis: AMNH 17339, a partial skeleton (Posterior cranium with horns, M1-M3). Its type locality is Sinclair Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Olcott Formation of Nebraska.

Distribution:

• Miocene of Canada (3: Saskatchewan collections), Mexico (1), United States (16: Nebraska, New Mexico, Wyoming)
