Type specimen: FMNH PF17629, a skeleton ( skull, pectoral girdle, anterior scutes (crushed and partially disarticulated) exposed in left lateral view.). Its type locality is Tanis, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Hell Creek Formation of North Dakota.

Ecology: nektobenthic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Tanis
