Type specimens:

  • Protungulatum donnae: S.P.S.M62-2028, a mandible (left mandible with P2-M3).
  • Protungulatum mckeeveri: UCMP 121782, a mandible. Its type locality is McKeever Ranch 1, which is in a Puercan coarse channel fill sandstone in the Tullock Formation of Montana.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution:

• Paleocene of Canada (2: Saskatchewan collections), United States (34: Colorado, Montana, Wyoming)

Total: 36 collections each including a single occurrence
