Sister taxa: Uintacyon acutus, Uintacyon asodes, Uintacyon gingerichi, Uintacyon hookeri, Uintacyon massetericus, Uintacyon rudis
Type specimen: AMNH 12066, a mandible. Its type locality is Henry's Fork Hill (Bridger C), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
Ecology: arboreal carnivore-omnivore
