Sister taxa: Diorocetus chichibuensis, Diorocetus shobarensis

Type specimen: USNM 16783, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Parker Creek, south, Zone 14, which is in a Serravallian foreshore claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
