Sister taxa: Tinosaurus lepidus, Tinosaurus pristinus
Type specimen: Yale University Museum, cat. no. 615 (portion of right dentary with two complete teeth and basal portion of a third). Its type locality is Henry's Fork Hill (Bridger C), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
