Type specimens:

  • Exostinus lancensis: USNM 10689, a maxilla. Its type locality is Lance Creek area (non-specific), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
  • Harpagosaurus parvus: USNM 10803, a maxilla (right maxilla with 14 teeth). Its type locality is Peterson's Quarry, which is in a Lancian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
  • Prionosaurus regularis: USNM 10750, a maxilla (incomplete maxilla with 8 teeth). Its type locality is Lance Creek (AMNH 1892 general), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.

• Paleocene of United States (2: Montana, Wyoming collections)

• Cretaceous of United States (12: Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming)
