Sister taxon: Lophocetus calvertensis

Type specimen: USNM 23886. Its type locality is Stanford Locality (USGS M1217), which is in a Tortonian marine sandstone in the Santa Margarita Formation of California.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Stanford Locality (USGS M1217)
