Type specimens:

  • Trilophosaurus buettneri: UMMP 2338, a mandible. Its type locality is Walker's Tank, TMM 41966, which is in a Norian terrestrial horizon in the Tecovas Formation of Texas.
  • Malerisaurus langstoni: TMM 31099-11, a partial skull (Skull fragments). Its type locality is Otis Chalk Quarry 2, TMM 31099 (Dockum Formation), which is in a Carnian/Norian crevasse splay mudstone/sandstone in the Colorado City Formation of Texas.
