Ocucajea picklingi

Taxonomy
Ocucajea picklingi was named by Uhen et al. (2011). Its type specimen is MUSM 1442, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Archaeocete Valley, Paracas, AV-19, which is in a Bartonian coastal sandstone in the Paracas Formation of Peru.

M. D. Uhen et al. 2011Ocucajea can be distinguished from all other dorudontines based on its small size and the configuration of bones at the cranial vertex (Fig. 9). In Ocucajea, the nasals and maxillae extend about the same distance posteriorly, whereas in Saghacetus and Dorudon, the nasals extend farther posteriorly than the maxillae. Ocucajea lacks a narial process of the frontal, a feature present in Saghacetus.
