Diplocaulus
Taxonomy
Diplocaulus was named by Cope (1877). It is not extant. Its type is Diplocaulus salamandroides. It is the type genus of Diplocaulidae.
It was assigned to Diplocaulinae by Beerbower (1963); to Keraterpetontidae by Daly (1973), Dutuit (1988) and Carroll (1988); to Diplocaulidae by Cope (1881), Hay (1902), Broili (1904) and Carroll et al. (1998); and to Nectridea by Maddin et al. (2012).
It was assigned to Diplocaulinae by Beerbower (1963); to Keraterpetontidae by Daly (1973), Dutuit (1988) and Carroll (1988); to Diplocaulidae by Cope (1881), Hay (1902), Broili (1904) and Carroll et al. (1998); and to Nectridea by Maddin et al. (2012).
