Bathytoma condonana was named by Anderson and Martin (1914). Its type specimen is CAS 214 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Pseudotoma condonana by Etherington (1931); it was recombined as Megasurcula condonana by Moore (1963), Addicott (1970).
