Taxonomy
Hindsia birmanica was named by Vredenburg (1921) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; India, Myanmar.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Minbu (Sitsayan stage), which is in a Rupelian marine horizon in the Sitsayan Formation of Myanmar.
It was recombined as Nassaria birmanica by Mukerjee (1939) and Tiwari and Kachhara (2003).
