Taxonomy
Laevityphis (Laevityphis) schencki was named by Keen and Campbell (1964) [TYPE SPECIMEN: Stanford types (SUPTC) now at CAS?]. Its type specimen is SUPTC 9723, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is U.C. Loc. S-8012 [Los Perdices Shale], which is in a Miocene marine shale in the Los Perdices Shale Formation of Colombia.

It was recombined as Siphonochelus (Laevityphis) schencki by Gertman (1969).
