Taxonomy
Spirifer stracheyi was named by Salter (1865). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niti Pass (Anisian), which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in India.

It was recombined as Spiriferina stracheyi by Diener (1907) and Siblik (1975); it was recombined as Tulungospirifer stracheyi by Jin et al. (1976).
