Taxonomy
Eubaena latifrons was named by Hay (1908). Its type specimen is AMNH 6139, a partial skull (crushed skull without lower jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Seven Mile Creek (AMNH), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial claystone/siltstone in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
It was synonymized subjectively with Thescelus insiliens by Larson et al. (2013); it was recombined as Hayemys latifrons by Gaffney (1972), Holroyd and Hutchison (2002) and Joyce and Lyson (2015).
