Taxonomy
Onthophagus everestae was named by Pierce (1946). Its type specimen is LACMIP 89.3 (LACMIP Type 3057), a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rancho La Brea, Pit 81 (LACMIP 89), which is in a Rancholabrean tar tar in California.
