Tataromys deflexus was named by Teilhard de Chardin (1926). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Yindirtemys deflexus by de Chardin (1926), Vianey-Liaud et al. (2006), Bendukidze et al. (2009) and Oliver and Daxner-Höck (2017).
