Taxonomy

Metriolepis was named by Cooper and Grant (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Metriolepis pulvinata.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Spiriferellinidae by Williams et al. (2006).
