Riodevemys inumbragigas
Taxonomy
Riodevemys inumbragigas was named by Pérez-García et al. (2015). Its type specimen is CPT-1423, a partial skeleton (partial skeleton including the disjointed carapace, the articulated plastron, and several bones of the scapular and pelvic girdles), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barrihonda–El Humero, RD-10, which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fine channel fill claystone/sandstone in the Villar del Arzobispo Formation of Spain.

Riodevemys inumbragigas can most readily be differentiated from all other basal paracryptodires by apomorphically lacking a midline contact of the mesoplastra and from most baenids by lacking well-developed inguinal and axillary buttresses. |
