It was assigned to Pelomedusinae by Zangerl (1948); to Pelomedusidae by Swinton (1939) and Carroll (1988); to Stereogenyita by Gaffney et al. (2011); to Podocnemidae by Cadena et al. (2012); and to Podocnemididae by de la Fuente et al. (2014) and Hirayama et al. (2023).
