Isochirotherium circademathieui was named by Gand (1979). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Culles-les-Roches quarry (CR), which is in an Anisian/Ladinian terrestrial horizon in the Grès inférieurs Formation of France.
