LSID. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:52D12F68-DF44-433F-9BA7-9D14F49D34E5 Derivation of name. Walu refers to the word turtle in diaguita language (of the native people from San Juan and La Rioja) and chelys to the Greek word for turtle.
