Taxonomy
Xibalbaonyx exinferis was named by Stinnesbeck et al. (2020). Its type specimen is CPC-2774, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cenote Tortugas, which is in a Pleistocene sinkhole carbonate in Mexico.
