Taxonomy
Fusivoluta cretacea was named by Squires and Saul (2003). Its type specimen is LACMIP 12521, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 10845, Clover Creek, which is in a Santonian marine horizon in the Redding Formation of California.
