Taxonomy
Ammospermophilus jeffriesi was named by Miller (1980). Its type specimen is IGCU 2296, a skull (major portion of a skull, incomplete right jaw, and left jaw fragment), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Las Tunas, which is in a Blancan terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in Mexico.
