Boleatherium praeludium

Taxonomy
Boleatherium praeludium was named by Vera et al. (2021). Its type specimen is MLP 90-III-5-165, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Boleadoras, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian fluvial horizon in the Cerro Boleadoras Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Boleatherium.

Vera et al. 2021p1 is the longest of the premolars series, with a small but differentiable talonid (premolariform); p2 narrower than p1 and longer and narrower than p3 and p4, and differentiable from all of them; lingual trig- onid–talonid contact in p2, p3, p4 and m3 (no lingual sulcus); talonid longer than trigonid and variable pos- ition of isthmus from m1 to m2; talonid of m3 lacks labial sulcus; no distal fusion between tibia and fibula; contact between navicular and calcaneus; and three bones in the second tarsal row
