S. R. Manchester 1986Globose heads 8-15mm in diameter sessile or pedunculate on long axes of 10 or more heads. Head consisting of a spheroidal receptacular core surrounded by numerous pistillate florets. Each floret with five free carpels and a perianth of well developed tepals. Carpels conduplicate, with a ventral suture running from the top of the ovary to the tip of the extended, persistant style. Fruits achenes, lacking dispersal hairs at maturity.
