Taxonomy
Spinobolus popovi was named by Zhang et al. (2016). Its type specimen is ELI-B YCS 15-001 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 6. road cut section near Aijiahe village, 25 km northwest of Yichang City, which is in an Atdabanian marine shale/limestone in the Shuijingtuo Formation of China.
