Megatherium medinae
Taxonomy
Megatherium medinae was named by Philippi (1893). Its type specimen is SGO PV 252 (formerly 1-VI-67-8), a mandible (partial mandible and skull and other), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pampa del Tamarugal (near Pica), which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Chile.
