Taxonomy
Alcithoe (Alcithoe) amundseni was named by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) [TYPE LOCALITY: IPS loc. 453, Seymour Island, Antarctic Peninsula]. Its type specimen is USNM 441788 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is La Meseta Fm Telm 5, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian coastal sandstone/sandstone in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.
