Taxonomy
Byzantinia dardanellensis was named by Unay (1980). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BA2 21, a tooth. Its type locality is Bayraktepe II, which is in a Vallesian lacustrine horizon in the Bayraktepe Formation of Turkey.
