Taxonomy
Arca (Arca) santamariensis was named by Reinhart (1937). Its type specimen is CIT 1381, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS loc. 4475, Fugler Point, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in California.
