O. Thomas 1916Skull strongly built; interorbital region very broad, with squared edges. Zygomatic plate scarcely projected forwards. Palatal foramina smallest in the group, narrow, scarcely reaching the level of m1 inf. Bullae small. First molar with anterior notch. Genotype T. subterraneus (Hesperomys subterraneus, Hens.)
