Taxonomy
Hylopetes hoeckarum was named by de Bruijn (1998). Its type specimen is NHMW 1997z0199/0001/1, a tooth (M1/2 sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Oberdorf lignite mine, horizon O3, which is in a MN 4 mire/swamp claystone in Austria.
