Hakusanodon was named by Rougier et al. (2007) [Mammalia, "Triconodonta"]. Its type is Hakusanodon archaeus.

It was assigned to Mammalia by Rougier et al. (2007); and to Eutriconodonta by Gao et al. (2010).
