Taxonomy
Nucula cahuitensis was named by Olsson (1922) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Caribbean.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saury Creek, which is in a Pliocene marine siliciclastic in Costa Rica.
It was recombined as Nucula (Nucula) cahuitensis by Woodring (1973).
