  • Cerithium variable was named by Adams (1845) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

    It was recombined as Cerithium (Vulgocerithium) variable by Vaughn (1921); it was corrected as Cerithium variabile by Usticke (1959); it was synonymized subjectively with Cerithium lutosum by Hendy et al. (2008).
