Buccinum erythrostoma was named by Reeve (1849) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Tritonidea (Cantharus) erythrostoma by Vredenburg (1925); it was recombined as Cantharus erythrostoma by Tryon (1881), Iqbal (1969) and Iqbal (1980).
