Drillia ostrearum was named by Stearns (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Florida.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Clathrodrillia ostrearum by DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Pyrgospira ostrearum by Hendy et al. (2008).
